How Wormly’s Word Pack works
Start by choosing a sample list or typing in your own twelve words. Each word has a spot for an optional pattern, a short clue and a sentence, so the games can use meanings and context as well as spelling. One tap starts the first game. A toggle at the top switches between all five games, and every game uses the same twelve words, so children meet each word in several different ways.
Five games from one word list
Every list becomes five games:
- Wormly Spells: children hear a word and spell it by guiding Wormly to the letters, in short rounds that revisit tricky words.
- Wormly’s Word Search: a fresh grid hides your words, and a tap or hover shows a short meaning for each one.

Sample word lists grouped by Science of Reading skill
If you would rather not type a list, the sample lists are grouped the way phonics is taught: digraphs, blends, silent e, vowel teams, r-controlled vowels, diphthongs, suffixes such as -ed and -ing, compound words and word parts. Each list teaches one focus, so children practice a single pattern at a time. Words are sorted into skill groups, and the printable pack can include a word sort page for the pattern you picked.
A printable pack that is ready for the classroom

A one-page receipt for children and teachers
When a game is finished, children can type a first name, or skip that step, and print a receipt that fits on one page. The top strip is for the child, with a cheer and stars. The bottom strip is for the teacher, with a breakdown by skill and difficulty, hints used, a space for notes and a QR code that opens a summary page. Teachers can also download an activity record.
Tips for using Word Pack in class or at home
Read each word aloud and say it in a sentence before playing. Use the sample lists for a pattern you are teaching this week, then switch to your own list for the weekly test. Let partners take turns, and use the printable pack for centers, homework or sub plans. Everything runs in the browser, works on Chromebooks, tablets and computers, and there is nothing to install.
