Excellent Practice for Telling Time Coloring Pack
These two black and white printable packs go with the Haunted House Time Machine Lab, our Halloween game about clocks, calendars, and animation history. Choose the pack for your grade band, download the PDF, and print it on regular paper. Children can play the game first and then draw, cut, and solve riddles on paper.
What is in the K-1 printables
The K-1 pack has five pages. Children draw their own time machine, set clocks to the hour and half hour, draw what is hiding inside a haunted house, make a dancing skeleton flip book, and build a paper plate clock with moving hands.
What is in the Grades 2-3 printables
The Grades 2-3 pack has six pages. Children solve clock and date riddles that use quarter hours, cut out eight animation milestones and put them in order on a timeline, make a flip book and count the pictures, and write a time machine riddle for a friend. A teacher key is included.
Download the printables
You can download the K-1 printables (PDF) or the Grades 2-3 printables (PDF) at any time. Each PDF opens in a new tab, so you can print it right away or save it to your computer.
Tips for using the printables
Play the Haunted House Time Machine Lab first, so the clock and date riddles feel familiar. Print the pages in black and white on regular paper. The flip book needs scissors and a stapler, and the paper plate clock needs paper plates, glue, and brass fasteners. The pages also work well as partner activities, with children trading riddles and setting each other’s clocks.
Standards and the full guide
The printables practice telling time, putting events in order, and reading riddles for clues. The Haunted House Time Machine Lab instant guide lists the Georgia and Common Core standards in its For Educators section. Please check the alignments against your own state or district standards.
