Every heard of mindfulness coloring? These detailed, often whimsical coloring activities encourage a different kind of focus—one that gently grounds you in the present moment. For grown-ups it could be a time-out from pressing responsibilities. For students it may signal a pause from typical academic attention and pressures.

During these moments the hand is actively engaged in small motor control activities as it carefully and precisely brings color to designs that are quite intricate. This care translates into a type of mindfullness that may then transfer to other activities that require a similar type of care. Certainly the mind can be quite reflective whilst the hand is busy and eyes are focused. Also mindfulness coloring doesn’t need to be a solitary activitiy! See the video of our group coloring moment below. Why not try it out in your classroom or home?
