This Month™ Instant Lesson: Nature Through the Lens is a K–5 smartboard lesson for Nature Photography Day (June 15) built around four real photographs. Each photo anchors a core science concept — adaptation, mutualism, seasonal change, and habitat — with grade-differentiated vocabulary flip cards, structured discussion questions, and teacher notes for grades K–1, 2–3, and 4–5. Topics include a walking stick insect using camouflage in the Philippines, a honeybee collecting pollen from lavender, frost crystals forming on blackberry leaves in Germany, and an Acropora coral colony in the Red Sea. Standards alignment covers Georgia GSE, Common Core ELA, Michigan ELA, NGSS, North Carolina, New York State, and New Jersey across both ELA and science frameworks.
