These two interactive Lei Day math games bring repeating pattern practice to life for students in Grades K–3 using the Hawaiian tradition of lei-making as their context. In the Lei Day Pattern Builder, students tap hibiscus, shell, and maile cards to construct AB, AAB, ABC, ABBC, and AABBC patterns and check their work — with five difficulty levels that stretch from kindergarten through third grade. In the Lei Day Unit Counter, three simultaneous challenge cards ask students to identify a pattern unit from a two-unit example and build exactly three complete repetitions, directly targeting the concept of a pattern’s repeating core. Both games align to state standards, and are available with this companion teacher lesson guide. Use them as a whole-class warm-up, a digital math station, or independent practice during AANHPI Heritage Month in May.
