In honor of World Autism Awareness Day and to kick off World Autism Month, we’d like to share a collaborative craft that you can do with your learners. This craft is a creative way to celebrate neurodiversity and the beauty of unique perspectives.

Just like a puzzle, our world is made up of individuals—each with their own talents, identities and experiences. By working together, we create a bigger picture of acceptance, inclusion, and community.

As you create your puzzle, think about how each piece is different yet essential, just like the people around us. This activity reminds us that every individual brings something valuable to the whole, and our differences make our communities stronger.

Check out the instructions below to start your own interconnected project! Also, take a look at the finished product above for inspiration.

We’re also offering different versions of the puzzle templates based on the number of participants or preferred difficulty level. Below are plain white templates allowing children to illustrate and color in their own scenes.

Or children can select a template with a pre-drawn outdoor community scene created by our resident artist, Nikita Lai Jing Tse.
