📋 Step-by-Step Instructions

🎏
1

Prepare Your Cup

Start with a clean plastic cup. If using a clear cup, decorate it with patriotic colors using markers. Draw stripes, stars, or write “USA” on the outside. Let older students get creative with their designs!

2

Cut the Streamers

Cut crepe paper streamers into strips about 18-24 inches long. You’ll need about 12-15 strips total. Mix red, white, and blue strips for the classic patriotic look. Make some strips slightly different lengths for a flowing effect.

3

Attach the Streamers

Turn the cup upside down. Tape or glue the streamers around the inside rim of the cup, spacing them evenly. The streamers should hang down freely when the cup is right-side up.

4

Add Decorations

Stick star stickers all around the cup. You can also draw additional patriotic symbols like eagles, flags, or fireworks. Let students personalize their wind socks with their own creative touches!

5

Create Hanging Holes

Punch 3 holes evenly spaced around the rim of the cup (now at the top). Be careful with the hole punch – adult supervision recommended for younger children.

6

Add Hanging Strings

Cut three pieces of string, each about 4 inches long. Thread one through each hole and tie securely. Then tie all three strings together at the top to create one hanging loop.

7

Test and Display

Gently blow on your wind sock to see the streamers dance! Hang outside on a porch, in a tree, or from a flag pole. Watch how beautifully they move in the breeze!

🎨 Creative Variations

🌟 All-Star Version

Use white cups and cover entirely with gold star stickers. Add blue and red streamers for a stellar patriotic look!

🇺🇸 Flag Pattern

Paint or color the cup to look like the American flag with stripes and a blue corner with white stars.

✨ Glitter Magic

Add glitter glue in patriotic colors for extra sparkle that catches the sunlight beautifully!

🎆 Fireworks Theme

Draw or paint firework bursts on the cup and use metallic streamers for a celebration effect.

⚠️ Safety Tips

✂️ Safe Cutting: Use child-safe scissors and cut away from your body.
